Rays Stadium Approved, Roche Bobois Brings in Local Art

The new Roche Bobois St. Pete Tower is still going up, but the project is already making room for local artists. Its newly unveiled construction fence features work from St. Pete muralists, putting the city’s art scene front and center before the 29-story tower is even finished.

The Vinoy has been collecting stories for more than a century, and some of them are a little harder to explain. Hailey B dug into the hotel’s haunted lore, including the fifth floor, where a few guests may have stuck around a lot longer than planned.

After years of proposals, resets, renderings, and arguments about where the Rays should actually play, the biggest votes are finally done.

Tampa City Council approved the new stadium deal 4-3, followed by a 5-2 approval from Hillsborough County Commissioners. The plan calls for a $2.36 billion ballpark on Hillsborough College’s Dale Mabry campus, with an anticipated opening in 2029.

Now that’s a retur!

Timmy, a 270-pound female loggerhead sea turtle estimated to be 70 to 80 years old, is back in the Atlantic after weeks of rehab in the Florida Keys. She was found struggling in the water near Sugarloaf Key in July, recovered at the Turtle Hospital in Marathon, and was released in Key West in front of a crowd that showed up to watch her head back home.

Old, massive, and still getting it done. Respect.

Only in St. Pete does the police department have a giant local sculpture out front. Gladiolus Blossom, created by Mark Aeling, is a pretty solid reminder that this city will work art into basically everything.
