Carl Gunn has found a decidedly low-tech way to protest St. Pete’s high-tech surveillance cameras: a lawn chair, a handmade sign, and one very committed pool skimmer. Hailey B. caught up with the local “Flock Blocker” to hear why he keeps putting himself between the cameras and the road.

What started as a strange beachside discovery has now turned into a felony case. Two St. Pete Beach business owners were arrested after investigators alleged they scattered more than 1,500 mothballs near a protected black skimmer nesting area.

More than 250 Cyclospora cases have been reported statewide, including 11 in Pinellas County, as officials investigate recalled iceberg lettuce sold and distributed in Florida. The broader spike has not been tied to one source, but persistent watery diarrhea is the symptom residents should watch for.

John’s Pass put on a show for Connie Sawyer Ross, with streaks of pink, orange, and purple lighting up the morning sky over the water. A pretty solid reason to be awake before the rest of St. Pete.
